Job Purpose:

To play a pivotal role in strategically positioning the company for growth by promoting and selling McCulloch Groups Plant and overall capabilities to new and existing clients within Rail.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Product Knowledge, to have a first class understanding of McCulloch’s plant and services to be able to advise prospective clients about the overall benefits.
  • Research Prospective Clients, identifying new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services – or new ways of reaching existing markets.
  • Lead Generation, to generate leads through various methods, including cold calling, networking at trade shows, and leveraging industry connections. The goal is to build a robust pipeline of potential clients.
  • Strategic Planning, by assessing market opportunities, evaluate competitors, and position McCulloch Group effectively. By analysing market trends, understand client needs and evaluate how our plant and services align with those needs.
  • Internal Knowledge Sharing, keep informed about industry developments, market trends, and competitor activities within the rail and construction industry. This knowledge aids informed decisions to be made and adapt to changing business landscapes
  • Implementing Change, drive change within McCulloch Group by seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business.
  • Support with any new innovation/plant for the business and share this within the group to keep McCulloch ahead of the competition.
  • Make our underutilisation of midweek staff a high priority when targeting new markets.
  • Liaise with the finance team, operations and engineering departments on any requotes to ensure we don’t miss out on any opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • 5years + Rail Sales and BD experience is essential.
  • Passionate for new business sales/prospecting.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, good literacy / numeric skills.
  • Ability to work alone on their own initiative with strong interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong customer management and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • ​Results driven, ambitious, and remarkably confident.
  • ​Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • IT skills Proficient user of Microsoft packages; Word, Excel. Use of CRM Systems such as Sales Force.
  • Confident, determined, and reliable nature.
