Global runners in the rail industry, make a difference to local runners.

The McCulloch Group, headquartered in Ballantrae – South Ayrshire, are well known for being global runners in the rail industry and have recently supported local group ‘Rhins Runners’. Rhins Runners based in Stranraer is a family running group, the group encourages those who are beginners through to seasoned runners to enjoy the sport. The group who meet weekly on Thursday evenings is a volunteer run collective running a variety of events for locals from the age of twelve years (with an adult companion) including ‘Couch to 5k’ courses.

McCulloch’s have recently awarded the group with a sponsorship of £2,000 and water bottles to support their good work in the community. With both the physical and mental health benefits of running being universally documented, the McCulloch Group who champion wellness supported Rhins Runners through a Shareholder’s grant by Billy and Marie McCulloch (joint owners with twin brother and wife, Danny and Anne McCulloch). The McCulloch family have invested in the southwest of Scotland communities over the last thirty years of business.

Lorna Hannah, Group Leader, said “Rhins Runners would like to say a massive thank you to McCulloch Group for the generous sponsorship which they have given us. We are only a small group so this shall make a big difference to what we can offer our members. We are hoping to be able to pay towards track sessions, invest in some kit for our runners and train a few more jog leaders so we can offer more varied sessions in the future.”

Through a range of initiatives from our ‘Community Chest’ programme, employee volunteer events and our Shareholder’s identifying personal good causes to support we’re continually looking to invest within our local communities. The McCulloch Group have committed to making one funding commitment per month to support causes such as children’s activities, local community projects and other charitable endeavours. With suppliers Selectequip the business recently donated crucial supplies to Luton-based ‘Signposts’ who support individuals affected by homelessness, they have arranged internal collections for the Ukraine appeal early in 2022 and a toy collection appeal to support a local foodbank in December of 2022.

As a business with offices and depots across the United Kingdom from Toddington to Kilmarnock, they welcome applications of support to be submitted by their employees completing an application form for funds alongside their nominated good cause.
